Edmund Piliposyan’s Wife and Sister Injured After Los Angeles Tour Bus Accident In North Hills On The 405 Freeway

NORTH HILLS, CALIFORNIA (October 15, 2018) A Los Angeles tour bus lost control and caused a head-on accident in North hills leaving dozens of people injured including the wife and sister of Edmund Piliposyan.

The tour bus involved in the accident was traveling on the 405 freeway before it hit several vehicles and then rammed through the center divider. Concrete and debris were littered across the scene as police worked to shut down the freeway.

Two dozen people were injured in the bus crash including three woman aged 49, 60 and 88 who were critically injured. Two men aged 30 and 69 were also treated for serious injuries.

A number of drivers began getting out of their car in order to document the scene. Los Angeles authorities shut down both sides of the freeway so that they could conduct a thorough investigation.

According to preliminary reports the tour bus began careening to the left and struck a blue pickup truck and was partially launched into the air after hitting the center divider.

There were a total of 37 passengers onboard the bus at the time of the accident. The wife and sister of Edmund Piliposyan were among the victims.

According to Edmund Piliposyan, his sister was driving a BMW and his wife was in the passenger seat. The front of their BMW was struck by the transit bus and would no longer start. They were both taken to the hospital in order to receive treatment.

Hundreds of vehicles were stuck on the 405 freeway for several hours. Thousands of people took to social media to express their shock and sympathies to the victims.

“It’s sad when innocent people suffer from this, my boyfriend is still in ICU because of a wrong way driver,” said Bella Calma.

“Omg that’s a Transit Systems bus they are contracted out to special events. Prayers for all involved,” said Nancy Gil.

Based on pictures of the North Hills bus accident scene, a number of people suspected that a tire blowout may have been the cause of the crash. “Looks like the drivers side front tire, blew and it went across the median, the news will have it on later,” said Kain Talbott.

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Caused By Bus Accidents

Victims of bus accidents are often left with severe injuries that can leave them permanently disabled. However, one of the most common injuries sustained from bus accidents is completely invisible to the naked eye. This is the case with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A research paper by the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry documented 29 patients who narrowly escaped death in a bus accident. Forty-one percent showed signs of PTSD and 52% demonstrated severe intrusion or avoidance phenomena.

According to The Canadian Journal of Psychiatry, survivors of car accidents often develop post-traumatic fear of driving. In one study, four out of eight subjects developed unremitting pains with their phobia. Victims can also have nightmares, flashbacks or repetitive thinking about the traumatic event. Negative changes in mood and thinking were also common. A Los Angeles bus accident attorney can take all of your injuries into consideration and help you get treatment and compensation for a crash.

Liability In Bus Accidents And Tire Blowout Accidents

There are a number of sources of potential negligence for the North Hills bus accident that left dozens of people injured. One of the first things that investigators will want to look at is the driver. Drivers are supposed to maintain a safe speed and operate their vehicles in a reasonably safe manner. In many circumstances bus drivers become drowsy or they fall asleep. Medical emergencies are also a major problem. Buses are common carriers under the law and the drivers should undergo periodic medical exams. Health concerns that could affect driving should be addressed.

The state that the bus was in should also be investigated. A number of accidents every year happen because of tire blowouts. A tire blowout will typically cause a vehicle to veer dangerously to one side of the road. Under inflation can cause a tire to blowout as well as irregular wear. A tread separation occurs when the outer bearing of a tire becomes unhinged from the inner portion. The servicer who was supposed to be taking care of a bus’s tires could face liability if they did an inadequate job and this caused the crash. Victims of bus accidents may have the ability to file a claim for damages in order to be compensated for medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.
