Pedestrian Killed In Garden Grove Car Accident By The Intersection of Grove Boulevard and Nelson Street
GARDEN GROVE, CALIFORNIA (October 13, 2019) – A man and a child were tragically killed after they were hit by a car near the intersection of Garden Grove Boulevard and Nelson Street.
Garden Grove police are saying that the accident took place around 9:20 p.m. Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victims.
Despite life-saving measures they were both pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the cause of the car accident remains ongoing at this time.
Liability In Pedestrian Accidents
Drivers are supposed to yield the right of way to pedestrians that are in lawfully marked crosswalks. According to California Vehicle Code 21950, “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.” The family of any victim that died in a pedestrian accident may have legal recourse through California Code of Civil Procedure 377.60.
