Liability In Head-On Collisions
According to a number of studies, head-on collisions are widely considered to be the most dangerous type of car accident. Head-on car accidents account for only 2% of all motor vehicle accidents, but they make up nearly 10% of all fatalities. Those that survive are often left with debilitating injuries including broken bones, traumatic brain injuries and spinal injuries. The medical costs associated with treatment following a head-on crash can be astronomical. Thankfully, the California vehicle code provides relief for victims.
Those that sustained injuries will be able to file against the negligent driver’s insurance. There may be additional sources of recovery for victims following an accident. If, for example, an accident was caused by a defect within a vehicle this will allow the victims to pursue a product liability claim. These types of third party actions can allow victims to recover substantially more than they would otherwise be able to. A car accident attorney can evaluate all of the specific facts of your case and let you know what your rights are.
