Caltrans Worker Injured In Merced Hit-And-Run Car Accident On Martin Luther King Jr. Way
MERCED, CALIFORNIA (June 10, 2021) – A Caltrans worker was injured in a hit-and-run car accident on Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
California Highway Patrol are saying that the accident took place around 2:49 a.m. on Wednesday. For reasons that remain under investigation a car hit a Caltrans worker and then fled the scene.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the collision in order to help the victim. They were taken to the hospital but are expected to survive.

It is illegal to flee the scene of a car accident that results in bodily injury or death. According to California Vehicle Code 20001, “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident and shall fulfill the requirements of Sections 20003 and 20004.” If a person was working a the time of a collision they may be able to seek aid through workers compensation.
