Ferry Building Boat Accident Injured Two People After Boat From Lakspur Bumped Into Berth Before Hitting Dock
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (November 26, 2018) Two people sustained injuries after the boat that they were in crashed into San Francisco’s iconic Ferry Building.
A number of onlookers were able to capture the moments directly before the crash. Coast Guard Investigators are looking into whether or not any mechanical malfunctions may have contributed to the accident.
The boat crash knocked over the railing and and caused the Slanted Door Restaurant to shake. The ferry boat involved in the accident had to be towed away after the crash.
Liability In Boat Accidents
Most boat accidents occur as a result of driver error. Speeding is a leading factor of boat accidents. But driver error is not always to blame. A mechanical malfunction may cause the boat to behave unexpectedly. Unlike cars or trucks, boats do not have traditional brakes that can be engaged in order to slow them down. Boats brake by reversing the direction of the rotor. If the rotor or engine were to stop working for some reasons that would leave a boat unable to slow down. Boat accidents can leave victims with serious injuries. Traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries and broken bones are not uncommon. Victims may be able to recover damages by filing a personal injury claim.
