Although maintaining proper tire pressure can help you avoid blowouts, it’s not always possible. Here are some tips to help you stay safe in the event of a blowout.” Every year tire blowouts are believed to be involved in 78,000 crashes and over 400 deaths. There are a number of steps that a driver should take in order to stay safe after a blowout:
- Hold onto the wheel with both hands
- Gradually release the accelerator
- Once the car has stabilized slow down and pull over to the road
Tire blowouts may happen for a number of reasons. This can include defects in the tire or inadequate maintenance. If a driver fails to maintain their tires properly and this leads to an accident they may face civil liability.
