Liability In Long Beach Car Accidents
Speeding remains one of the most common causes of car accidents in the United States. According to the Judicial Council of California Civil Jury Instructions, “A person must use reasonable care in driving a vehicle. Drivers must keep a lookout for pedestrians, obstacles, and other vehicles. They must also control the speed and movement of their vehicles. The failure to use reasonable care in driving a vehicle is negligence.” It is important that evidence is properly preserved after an accident.
- Witnesses should be interviewed
- Photos of the accident site should be taken
- Victims should continue to seek medical care
When a driver is negligent and hits a pedestrian they could be held liable through a civil claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and funeral expenses. In order to win a civil claim plaintiffs will have to demonstrate negligence. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
