Liability In Pleasanton Car Accidents
Thousands of pedestrians are killed in car accidents every year. Many more are left seriously injured. Many collisions occur when drivers simply are not paying attention. According to the Judicial Council of California Civil Jury Instructions, “A person must use reasonable care in driving a vehicle. Drivers must keep a lookout for pedestrians, obstacles, and other vehicles. They must also control the speed and movement of their vehicles. The failure to use reasonable care in driving a vehicle is negligence.” Victims of car accidents are protected by a number of laws.
When a driver is negligent and hits a pedestrian they may be able to be held accountable through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. In order to win a civil claim plaintiffs will have to demonstrate negligence. A pedestrian accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are. There are, however, statute of limitations associated with civil claims. It is therefore important to act quickly.
