Merced County, CA (September 19, 2023) 1 person is dead following a collision on Highway 152 in Merced County on Tuesday morning, September 19, 2023. The California Highway Patrol said it all happened because someone ran a stop sign.

Authorities said a man ran a stop sign on Turner Island and crossed Highway 153. A 38-year-old woman a 12-year-old child were in a Honda, traveling down Highway 152 at the same time. The man who ran the stop sign ended up t-boning the Honda.
The man was killed in the collision. The woman and the child were both transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Officers at the scene said that all the people involved in the accident were wearing seat belts. They do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision.
