San Francisco, CA (October 19, 2023) A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Muni bus in San Francisco on Thursday morning, October 19th. Authorities said it occurred around 1:00 a.m. at Van Ness Avenue and O’Farrell Street.

The accident happened near San Francisco’s Tenderloin District. Several police officers were at the scene and a video of the accident shows a giant crack in the front window of the Muni bus. Officers believe the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street to catch the bus and was unseen in the dark by the bus driver.
Officers said it’s common for pedestrians to cross the street in this area, outside of a designated crosswalk, in an attempt to catch a bus.
Authorities are investigating this accident further.
