Bakersfield, CA (November 15, 2023) A bicyclist’s life came to an end on Tuesday afternoon, following a collision with a vehicle in Bakersfield. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the accident occurred in the 3300 block of Wible Road right around 3:00 p.m.
Officers received the call about a bicycle versus sedan collision and were at the scene within minutes. They found the bicyclist, identified only as an adult male, lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics arrived and loaded the bicyclist into an ambulance and rushed him to a local hospital for treatment. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the bicyclist was pronounced dead, according to police officers.

The driver of the sedan that hit the bicyclist, identified only as a female, remained at the scene following the collision. She willingly cooperated with officers during their investigation. Police officers said they do not believe that speed of intoxication were factors in this fatal collision.
The Kern County Coroner’s Officer was called to the scene and will identify the bicyclist and notify their next of kin.
Officers are still investigating this crash to determine what exactly happened on Wible Road in Bakersfield on Tuesday afternoon.
