Hyde Park, Los Angeles, CA (March 12, 2024) The community of Hyde Park was shocked to hear about a serious collision in their neighborhood on Sunday morning, March 10th. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the crash, leaving a woman, an infant and a 7-year-old child with serious injuries behind. The infant, only 5 months old, remains in critical condition, officers reported.
At 2:00 a.m., it is pretty much the middle of the night. A man drove a car through Hyde Park in Los Angeles and suddenly slammed into a pole at the intersection of 52nd Street and Crenshaw Boulevard. The man driving the car was seriously injured, but tried to flee the scene, officers reported. A woman, a 7-year-old child and a 5-month-old baby were also in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the vehicle totaled and wrapped around a pole. As officers approached the car, they reported that there was a pool of blood on the ground on the passenger side. Paramedics rushed to help the occupants of the car. Police officers chased down the driver and arrested him, authorities said.
All four occupants were rushed to a local hospital. The 5-month-old baby remains in critical condition, according to officers. They determined that the man driving the car was intoxicated at the time of the collision and he faces numerous charges.
