Bakersfield, CA (July 1, 2024) A single-vehicle collision occurred in southwest Bakersfield on Saturday night, June 29th. The driver was intoxicated and injured his passenger in the collision, according to reports. It happened at the intersection of Buena Vista Road and Panama Lane just before midnight.
It was Saturday night, June 29th, just before midnight in southwest Bakersfield as an intoxicated driver sat behind the wheel. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Buena Vista Road and Panama Lane, the the driver lost control and crashed, according to reports. It was just before midnight, officers reported, and a female passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured.
Officers responded to the 911 call and headed to the scene. They found the vehicle with major damage and debris littered the intersection. They hurried to the vehicle and found the female with serious injuries, reports indicated. Paramedics quickly and carefully removed the woman from the vehicle and placed her on the stretcher. She was loaded into an ambulance and taken to a local hospital to receive emergency treatment for her injuries.
Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle and determined that he was intoxicated at the time of the collision. He was placed in handcuffs, read his rights and arrested at the scene. Officers reported that the driver did not have a driver’s licence, either. He faces multiple charges. Officers called for a tow truck to come remove the damaged vehicles and crews worked to quickly clean the glass and debris from the scene.
