Yuba City, CA (July 1, 2024) Seven people were hurt and one man was killed in a horrific car crash in early June. At about 8:40 p.m. on the 2nd, a woman was driving north with her 4-year-old daughter in her Honda Crosstour.
The 39-year-old mother failed to stop at a stop sign on El Margarita Street. Somehow, she turned around a raised center median and started driving eastbound on the westbound lanes of Highway 20, going against traffic.
Tragically, the woman crashed into a Ford F150 that was carrying six people. One man succumbed to his injuries from the collision. He was only 27.
The five other passengers in the Ford sustained injuries, but they were not life-threatening. The mother and 4-year-old in the Honda also left the scene with non-life-threatening wounds.
Upon investigation, authorities determined that the mother in the Honda had been driving under the influence of alcohol. Officers arrested her and booked her into Sacramento County Jail on a warrant for murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in injury and felony child endangerment.
