Bakersfield, CA (July 12, 2024) A fatal head-on collision occurred in Bakersfield on Thursday, July 11th. The deadly accident claimed one life, officers reported. It happened just before 6:00 p.m., outside of the city of Lamont, on East Panama Lane. The accident wasn’t too far from South Vineland Road, according to reports. Sadly, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was around 5:50 p.m. on Thursday evening as motorists began to leave work and head home for the day. Just outside of Lamont, on East Panama Lane, a four-door vehicle and a pickup truck collided,head-on, officers reported. The impact sent debris flying in all directions and the damaged vehicles stopped in the middle of the road, causing traffic delays. Witnesses began calling 911, reports indicated.
The California Highway Patrol and the Bakersfield Police Department arrived at the scene and found the two damaged vehicles blocking traffic.They hurried to see if anyone involved was in need of medical attention. Unfortunately, they found one person who had been killed in the collision. Authorities pronounced the victim dead at the scene, covered them with a tarp and waited for the coroner to arrive.
Officers began gathered in evidence and taking statements in an attempt to understand what exactly transpired on East Panama Road that evening. They are determined to not only piece together what happened to cause the accident, but also to discover who was at fault. A tow truck was called to the scene to remove at least one of the damaged vehicles and crews cleaned up debris from the roadway as quickly as they could.
