Apple Valley, CA (July 29, 2024) A DUI driver caused not one, but two accidents in Apple Valley on Thursday evening, July 25th. The driver, identified as Kaleb Elijah Hodge, 22, from Barstow was arrested for DUI after causing two accidents that led to his passenger being seriously injured, reports indicated.
Hodge was driving a 2007 Cadillac DTS with a 20-year-old female in the front passenger seat. They were headed along Bear Valley Road when Hodge suddenly turned onto State Route 18 and suddenly stopped on the right shoulder of the road. He then made an illegal U-turn, hitting a 2015 Kia Optima in the process. Hodge didn’t stop, but instead fled the scene with damage to the left front of the Cadillac. He headed west along State Route 18 and eventually began driving on the dirt shoulder. He suddenly lost control of the vehicle and it began to roll, according to reports. The female passenger was thrown from the vehicles and sustained life-threatening injuries, officers said.
Emergency crews arrived and found the woman in critical condition. Paramedics called for a medical helicopter and she was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center to receive immediate emergency care. Hodge got out of the vehicle on his own, but was obviously injured. Officers determined that he had been under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but officers arrested him as soon as he was discharged. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, where he faces multiple charges, according to reports.
