Butte County, CA (August 10, 2024) A multi-vehicle collision on Thursday morning, August 8th, left one person with injuries. The collision occurred minutes before 6:00 a.m. in Butte County, officers reported. It took place at the intersection of Stanford Lane and Midway, in the Durham area.
It was early morning in Butte County as commuters began their trek to work. Vehicles made their way through the intersection of Midway and Stanford Lane with no issues. At approximately 5:52 a.m., the sounds of metal colliding and tires squealing filled the air as three vehicles crashed at the intersection. The three damaged vehicles were left blocking the intersection, causing traffic to back up, reports indicated.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the three damaged vehicles sitting in the middle of the intersection. A field of debris was sprinkled around them and traffic was becoming backed up due to the blockage, according to reports. Officers checked the vehicles, ready to offer medical aid to anyone in need, and found one person with injuries. At this time, it isn’t known if the person was treated at the scene or taken to a hospital.

Officers began investigating the scene and taking statements from witnesses as well as those involved in the accident. Following the initial investigation, tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles from the intersection and crews cleaned up the debris and glass that remained on the roadway. Officers are determined to not only understand what occurred at this Butte County intersection, but to also determine who was at fault.
