1 Hospitalized Following Shasta County Collision

2-vehicle collision on Highway 246 in Solvang leaves two injured.

Shasta County, CA (September 9, 2024) It was just after 1 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, September 8th, 2024, when a vehicle lost control. It happened on Interstate 5 and caused the vehicle to go up a steep embankment before flipping over in the middle of the freeway. The accident occurred near Packer’s Bay and caused traffic delays, according to reports.

As traffic headed along the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Shasta County on Sunday afternoon, one vehicle lost control. The cause of this remains unknown, but officers are working to put the pieces together. It was identified as a small, red SUV, according to reports. The vehicle went up a steep embankment before overturning and stopping in the middle of the southbound lanes.

Officers arrived to find children, adults and two dogs inside the SUV. They helped remove each victim from the vehicle and found one with significant injuries. They were placed in an ambulance and transported to a local hospital to receive emergency treatment, but are expected to make a full recovery.
