Las Vegas, NV (October 26, 2024) A tragic accident occurred in the west Las Vegas Valley on Friday afternoon, October 25th, 2024. A person riding a moped was struck and killed by a vehicle on El Capitan Way, not far from Flamingo Road, according to reports. It all happened just minutes after 3:00 p.m.
It was right around 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday as a moped headed along El Capitan Way in west Las Vegas Valley. In the 400 block, a vehicle turned onto the roadway from a private driveway. As the vehicle pulled out, it struck the moped. The rider was thrown from the moped and landed hard on the ground. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and waited for police officers to arrive.

When officers arrived, they found the dented moped on the ground. Several feet away was the rider, motionless. Officers rushed to the victim’s side, prepared to begin life-saving measures, but found that the rider had been killed in the accident. They were pronounced dead at the scene and officers placed a tarp over the victim’s body as they waited for the coroner.
El Capitan Way had to be closed from Saddle Avenue to Flamingo Road for several hours, following the collision. Officers took statements and gathered evidence and are diligently working to piece together what happened.
