Castro Valley, CA (October 28, 2024) A hit-and-run collision shocked a community in Castro Valley on Friday morning, October 25th. A 14-year-old boy was struck and injured by an Amazon delivery car that quickly fled the scene, according to reports.
A 14-year-old boy was riding his bike to school on Friday morning. As he rode, an Amazon delivery car was in a driveway, delivering groceries. The driver quickly got into the Toyota Rav4 and began backing out of the driveway. He hit the teen on the bicycle, throwing him to the ground. Then, the driver shifted the car into drive and drove away from the scene, leaving the teenager behind with injuries.
When police officers arrived, they found the bike with a damaged front wheel and the boy was injured, although the injuries weren’t considered life-threatening. A resident on the street watched the accident quickly unfold on their Ring camera. They ran outside in an attempt to stop the driver, but they continued driving away.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol are working to identify the driver, but have been hindered by Amazon’s refusal to help. They State that they won’t offer any information without a subpoena. Detectives are still working to find the driver and have stated that they are optimistic.
