Cesar Hernandez Killed In Possible Hit-And-Run Crash On Hawthorne Blvd. In West L.A.

Bicyclist struck and killed in a hit-and-run in west Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, CA (January 11, 2024) Cesar Hernandez, 51, was riding his bicycle in west Los Angeles when he was fatally struck by a vehicle. This tragic collision occurred at the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and Lennox Boulevard, in the unincorporated area of Lennox on Wednesday, January 10th. The California Highway Patrol believes that this accident was actually a hit-and-run.

Sean Lough, an officer with the California Highway Patrol, said they received the call at 11:41 p.m. and arrived to find the Hernandez lying on the ground. The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the scene and did all they could to try and save the bicyclist’s life. Unfortunately, Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Upon arrival, officers said there wasn’t a vehicle near the scene, leaving them to believe that the suspect fled after hitting the bicyclist. Initial investigation revealed that a red Dodge Ram pickup truck had reportedly hit the bicyclist, then fled the scene. Hernandez was left alone on the roadway with life-threatening injuries.

The California Highway Patrol reported that they are investigating this fatal accident to determine what happened in west Los Angeles on the evening of January 10th. They are also determined to find the driver of the Dodge Ram who drove away, leaving an injured man in the roadway.
