Christine Hawk Embree identified as mother killed in Carlsbad e-bike crash

CARLSBAD, CA (August 11, 2022)Christine Hawk Embree was identified by authorities as the mom who was tragically killed on her e-bike on Sunday. She was riding with her 1-year-old daughter, Delilah, when they were struck by an SUV. Her daughter thankfully survived.

Embree was riding her bike through Basswood Avenue and Valley Street when she was struck by a 42-year-old woman in an SUV, authorities say. The unnamed woman remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Christine Embree’s GoFundMe page says that her husband, Bob Embree, was on duty as a firefighter in Orange County when he learned of the accident.

The GoFundMe page reads:

Christine was tragically taken from us in a bicycle accident while riding through her neighborhood in Carlsbad, accompanied by her beautiful 16 month old daughter, Delilah. Miraculously, Delilah was thrown clear of the accident, and with the help of a bicycle seat and helmet, came through unscathed.

Police are still determining the cause of the accident, but say that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call Cpl. Matt Bowen at 442-339-2282.
