Fresno cyclist killed on Herndon and Blackstone Avenues

FRESNO, CA (May 24, 2022) – A cyclist in Fresno was killed on Tuesday at the intersection of Herndon and Blackstone Avenues according to the Fresno Bee.

The cyclist was identified as a 74-year-old man, but his name is yet to be released pending an investigation and notification of family.

Fresno Police Department Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega says that the cyclist was heading south on Blackstone Avenue in the crosswalk when an SUV struck him.

The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when visibility was low, and it is unclear whether the SUV had the right of way.

The driver of the SUV remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police closed the intersection and diverted traffic away from the scene while investigators were at the site. The elderly man’s bicycle remained on the ground during this time.
