Gaylin Reese Killed In Long Beach Hit-And-Run

Teenage Boy Injured in Bicycle Accident at Springfield Avenue and Justine Avenue [Reedley, CA]

Long Beach, CA (July 19, 2023) A woman was fatally injured while riding a tandem bicycle with her husband in Long Beach over the weekend.

Gaylin Reese, 76, of Long Beach, was injured around 12:25 on Sunday afternoon near Second Street and Marina Drive. The Long Beach Police Department said the bicyclists were traveling east and the traffic was very heavy. Reese and her husband swerved and side-swiped a vehicle. Reese lost control and fell off the bike.

The driver of the car involved continued to drive away. Authorities say it is unclear whether or not the driver knew the incident had occurred. The driver has since been found. Both Reese and her husband were taken to a nearby hospital where the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Reese died at the hospital because of her injuries.

Both bikers were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
