Santa Cruz, CA (October 4, 2024) A woman named Helen Hines was tragically killed when she was struck by an e-Bike while walking on Friday morning.
An 80-year-old man was reportedly riding an Aventon Pace 500 electric bicycle at an unknown speed on the right shoulder of Opal Cliff Drive. For reasons unknown at this time, he ran into Hines as she was walking east of him at around 5:50 a.m.
Hines was airlifted to Valley Medical Center, but sadly, the 82-year-old succumbed to her injuries.
The bicyclist also sustained injuries and was taken to a different hospital. His condition is unknown at the time of writing.
