Rialto, CA (October 28, 2024) A devastating DUI crash occurred in the town of Rialto on Sunday evening, October 27th. It happened at the intersection of Etiwanda and Riverside Avenue, just before 6:30 p.m. Two vehicles collided, sending one onto the sidewalk where it struck the pedestrian, according to reports. The 50-year-old pedestrian was killed and a 2-year-old child was injured. The responsible driver, a 32-year-old woman, was arrested for DUI.
A 50-year-old man was walking a bike on the sidewalk at the intersection of Etiwanda and Riverside on Sunday evening. As he walked, a green Dodge Caravan, was heading south on Riverside and attempted to turn left onto Etiwanda. However, they were supposed to yield to oncoming traffic and failed to do so. A black Audi was approaching and Caravan slammed into it, according to reports. The impact sent the Caravan onto the sidewalk, where it struck the pedestrian.
First responders arrived at the scene and found the two badly damaged vehicles and the 50-year-old pedestrian on the ground near a bicycle. They hurried to the pedestrian’s side and found him with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital, via ambulance, where he later died.
Inside the Audi, officers found a 2-year-old boy with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a hospital to receive treatment, officers reported. The driver of the Caravan, a 32-year-old woman was also taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. However, officers went with her, according to reports. It was determined that she had been driving under the influence and upon her release from the hospital, officers plan to place her under arrest.
