Santa Rosa, CA (June 27, 2024) A 35-year-old man was left brutally injured when a car struck him early Saturday morning.
It was June 22, and the man was riding on his e-bike to his 4 a.m. shift at the Safeway grocery store in Windsor. He was travelling north on Fulton Road. At about 3:15 a.m., his commute turned into a nightmare.
Reports say that he was going about 20 mph on his e-bike when an SUV came up from behind and struck him. The vehicle briefly dragged the bike and the bicyclist underneath it as it carried on down the road. Another car approached from the south, prompting the initial vehicle to maneuver around the bicyclist and flee. The southbound motorist stopped to help the bicyclist and called police.
California Highway Patrol is still looking for the hit-and-run driver. They believe that the motorist who hit the young man was harassing him, and perhaps intentionally trying to hurt him. This is based on the fact that the driver of the vehicle yelled to the bicyclist, “Get the ‘F’ off the road,” according to the victim’s mother.
The victim sustained major injuries, including three fractures in his left leg. He has already been through one surgery since the crash, and another is scheduled for Friday, June 28.
