San Diego, CA (July 15, 2024)
A woman was severely injured on Sunday, July 14. She was riding her bicycle when she was struck by a driver who fled the scene.
The collision occurred at about 8:40 a.m. at 13100 Rancho Penasquitos Blvd.
The San Diego Police Department reported that the driver in question was in a silver or charcoal gray mid-sized SUV. They and the bicyclist, a 60-year-old, were heading the same direction. For unknown reasons, the driver veered the car to the right and hit the woman on the bike. They immediately drove away.
Authorities were alerted to the crash and rushed the woman to the hospital. She was put in surgery, and her condition at this time is unknown.
The woman apparently suffered significant brain bleeding and a fractured spine.
