Suspect arrested in DUI killing of Daniel Soto in Rancho Cucamonga

RANCHO CUCAMONG, CA (August 25, 2022) – Daniel Soto, 41, was struck and killed on his bicycle by DUI driver Gerald Willis, of Rancho Cucamonga, on Saturday around 2 a.m.

Willis killed Soto with his 2019 Jeep Compass when Soto was riding with a group that included his son.

The cyclists were heading westbound on Arrow Route heading toward Haven Avenue, according to officers.

Authorities say that Willis was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash, and arrested him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter. He is being held at West Valley Detention Center.
