Anaheim, CA (October 4, 2024) A police pursuit through the streets of Anaheim turned deadly for one person inside the fleeing vehicle. The fleeing vehicle lost control and crashed into a light pole, according to reports. One person was killed and another seriously injured in the crash. It happened around 12:15 a.m. on the Artesia (91) Freeway.
It was after midnight and darkness had settled over Anaheim as police officers attempted to pull over a Ford Ranger. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and led officers on a high speed chase along the Artesia (91) Freeway. Sgt. Matt Sutter with the Anaheim Police Department told City News Service that the pickup suddenly took a turn off the freeway. The Ford exited at 1219 N. State College Road and then crashed into a pole at a high speed.
Pursuing officers immediately stopped and cautiously approached the Ford Ranger. Officers requested the aid of firefighters at the scene, reports indicated. One of the occupants inside the vehicle had been killed in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. the other occupant was seriously injured in the crash. Paramedics transported them to a hospital in the area, via ambulance.
