Carlsbad, CA (October 23, 2023) One person was killed and 2 others injured in a 3-vehicle crash in Carlsbad on Thursday, October 19th, according to the Carlsbad Police Department. Authorities are referring to the collision as a “pileup” that occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m.

A Mazda MX-5 was driving east at a high speed when they lost control on the rain-slicked road in the 2700 block of Faraday Avenue. The car swerved into the westbound side of the street and crashed into a Honda Accord and a Toyota Corolla before catching on fire, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find the Mazda engulfed in flames. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics transported 2 other people to local hospitals to receive treatment for injuries they sustained in the collision. The extent and severity of their injuries have not been disclosed.
