Bakersfield, CA (June 12, 2024) An intense collision between two vehicles on East Panama Lane and Sparks Street has left both drivers in the hospital. The crash occurred Sunday night a little after 10 p.m.
To make matters worse, the Bakersfield Police Department reports that after the crash, one of the vehicles caught on fire. Apparently, they suspect alcohol was somehow involved in the incident, but the injuries to both parties were too severe for the officers to test for alcohol intake at the scene. Both drivers had to be transported to the hospital to receive medical treatment.

Investigators reportedly obtained search warrants so that they could test the blood samples of the two drivers. The results of this have not been revealed at present.
Footage of the aftermath of the accident shows one of the vehicles was a white sedan. The front of the car was ripped to shreds, and it appears the air bags deployed. The car ended up completely on the sidewalk in front of a stone wall next to the road. The other car seems to be an SUV that ended up in the middle of the street. Its front end is also smashed.
