Gerardo Nava, Jesus Hernandez Killed In Ventura Crash

Wrong-way driver injures one before fleeing the scene on foot on PCH in Hermosa Beach.

Ventura, CA (June 12, 2024) On June 8, two men were killed in a head-on collision in which a driver was going the wrong way on Highway 101 near Vista Del Mar. The victims, aged 52 and 54, were driving in a Nissan Versa around 2:26 a.m. when the crash occurred. They were both from Santa Barbara.

The other driver, who California Highway Patrol reports was under the influence, crashed into them head-on as he drove southbound in the northbound lane. He was driving a Volkswagen Jetta.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, but the victims were sadly found dead upon arrival following the violent collision. The driver who was going the wrong way is apparently a 21-year-old man from Oxnard, and he sustained minor injuries to his knees. He was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment. After the doctors cleared him medically, he was transported to the Ventura County Jail to be booked by police.

Update: The victims have been identified as Gerardo Tenorio Nava, 54, and Jesus Manuel Resendiz Hernandez, 52.

This tragic incident remains under investigation, and California Highway Patrol is encouraging any witnesses to contact their Ventura station with information.
