Aromas, CA (January 30, 2024) A normal, early morning drive along State Route 129 in Aromas turned into a nightmare for two drivers on Monday, January 29th. It was 6:30 a.m. as two vehicles approached 1900 Riverside Drive from opposite directions. The peaceful quiet of an early morning was replaced with screeching tires and crushing metal as the two vehicles crashed, head-on.
One person was driving a black Toyota Tacoma pickup truck down Highway 129, while another person was driving white Honda sedan in the opposite direction. The California Highway Patrol is still unsure as to what exactly happened on that highway, but they do know that one of the vehicles swerved into the opposite lane. It happened quickly and before either driver could react, the two vehicles smashed head-on into each other.
Emergency crews hurried to the scene where they found two badly damaged vehicles. Officers reported that one of the vehicles was completely totaled following this dramatic collision. Paramedics gave medical aid to both drivers and transported at least one of the drivers to a local hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.

An added twist to this terrible accident, was the discovery of four dogs inside one of the vehicles. Police officers said that they called Animal Control who took the animals and agreed to care for them while their owner was in the hospital.
Police officers at the scene had to call for two tow trucks to come and remove both the Toyota pickup truck as well as the Honda sedan. Both vehicles had sustained significant damage during the crash and were immobile.
