Unborn baby killed, mother critically injured, following multi-vehicle collision on I-5 in Coalinga.

Boulevard, CA (July 5, 2024) A tragic crash occurred last week in Boulevard, a census-designated place in southeastern San Diego County. It was Friday, June 28, and a woman was driving her Toyota Camry eastbound on Old Highway 80.

For reasons that are still unclear, the driver, Dora Valencia Magana, veered her car to the left and crossed the double-yellow lines. Now in the opposite lane, she collided head-on into a 1995 Ford F-150 truck. The crash happened at about 1:00 a.m. near Tierra Del Sol Road.

After the crash, Dora Valencia Magana exited her car. Unfortunately, an oncoming 2000 Honda CR-V hit her as she did so. Her injuries were fatal; she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the pickup truck that was initially struck were a 65-year-old woman (the driver) and a 70-year-old man. They were both transported to a trauma center, but they were tragically pronounced dead. Another occupant of the Ford was a 58-year-old man who was taken to the hospital and is alive as of the latest report.

The driver of the Honda that struck Dora Valencia Magana was a 58-year-old man. He was also hospitalized.

California Highway Patrol has reported that they do not believe intoxication was a factor in this crash. An investigation is ongoing to understand why Dora Valencia Magana veered into the opposite lane.
