Bakersfield, CA (October 15, 2024) Tragedy rocked the community of Bakersfield on Monday, October 14th, 2024, when three people were killed in a crash. It was 4:30 in the afternoon when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Elmo Highway and Scofield Avenue. Three people lost their lives in the accident and a fourth person sustained injuries.
A pickup truck and a sedan approached the intersection of Elmo Highway and Scofield Avenue on Monday afternoon. For reasons that remain a mystery, the two vehicles suddenly collided at a high rate of speed. It happened north of Wasco and caused serious damage.
First responders rushed to the scene and found the two vehicles, badly damaged and sitting in a field of debris. Officers hurried to the vehicles, ready to give life-saving treatment to anyone in need. Sadly, they found that three people had been killed in the accident. The three victims were pronounced dead at the scene and officers requested a coroner. A fourth victim had sustained serious injuries in the collision and was taken to a hospital in the area.
Officers closed Scofield Avenue from Peterson Road to Elmo Highway. They gathered evidence and are working to determine not only what caused this fatal collision, but which vehicle was responsible for causing it. Tow trucks arrived to remove the wrecked vehicles and crews cleaned up the glass and debris that was left behind.
