Orick, CA (November 28, 2023) Five people sustained injuries in a collision on Highway 101 just north of the town of Orick on Monday, November 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities are referring to this accident as a “serious head-on collision.”
The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene on Highway 101 and found a semi truck and a passenger vehicle that had obviously collided. The passenger vehicle had rolled over and was sitting on its roof and one person was said to be trapped inside the vehicle and officers reported that they were unresponsive. Authorities had to close a portion of Highway 101 and they called for paramedics. Emergency medical personnel arrived quickly and found that 5 people were in need of medical treatment following the crash.

Two ambulances were called to the scene, as well as an air ambulance, authorities said. Witnesses told the California Highway Patrol that a woman was driving erratically on the roadway right before the collision occurred. They said the woman was jumping in traffic and playing with traffic cones on the highway.
