Cervando Velasquez, 57, Dies in Glendale Collision

CHP officer struck and injured on the 5 Freeway in Las Angeles.

Glendale, CA (June 14, 2024) A tragedy occurred late Thursday night on the 134 freeway in Glendale.

At 10:13 p.m., California Highway Patrol received reports that a serious collision happened at the junction of the Glendale Freeway and the eastbound Pasadena Freeway. Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, where they discovered the incident was a three-car collision. It is not yet clear why or how the crash occurred.

Tragically, in the midst of the collision, a pedestrian was struck and killed. His name was Cervando Velasquez, and he was 57 years old. Officers found him lying in one of the freeway lanes next to the vehicles that were involved in the crash.

Details about the other drivers and vehicles are still coming out. There have been no reports that anyone else was injured. So far, the sole known victim is Mr. Velasquez.
