(West Covina, CA) A tragic single-vehicle collision occurred on Saturday that claimed the lives of the driver and their front-seat passenger. It happened on the westbound 10 freeway at the Barranca Avenue on-ramp.
The two victims were Dante Treggs, 35, and Derrick Cobb. It’s unclear at this time who was the driver and who was the passenger. Both were reportedly prominent advocates for the LGBTQ+ community, and Cobb was a Grammy-nominated artist.
California Highway Patrol reported that the two were in a 2021 Honda sedan when for unknown reasons, the driver veered off the road as they came up to the ramp. The vehicle collided with a guardrail on the shoulder, then slammed into a concrete slab and a metal pole attached to a freeway sign. The Honda was quickly engulfed in flames.
Paramedics pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
