Hemet, CA (October 25, 2023) – David Hartlerode tragically lost his life on Saturday, October 21st, after an unfortunate pedestrian collision on Florida Avenue in Hemet, California. Police reports indicate that the accident occurred around 6:50 p.m. in the area near New Chicago Avenue.
Hartlerode, a man from Valle Vista, was attempting to walk across Florida Avenue, using a designated crosswalk, when he was hit by an Honda Sedan. The Honda Sedan was driven by a 56 year-old Hemet man, and was travelling east at 35-40 mile per hour when it hit Hartlerode. The driver immediately stopped to assist the pedestrian and contact emergency services.

Police and paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department soon arrived at the scene. The paramedics attempted to aid Hartlerode, but sadly he passed away at the scene of the accident.
The police immediately began an investigation into the death of David Hartlerode. It is unclear who had the right of way, but tests of the driver showed no signs of impairment at the time of the accident.
