Mountain View, CA (October 19, 2023) A DUI driver crashed their vehicle into a Mountain View home on Tuesday, October 17th, according to Mountain View police officers. The 911 call was received by dispatchers shortly after 3:00 a.m. reporting a car crashing into a house on California Street.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and evacuated residents as 1,000 gallons of water gushed from water pipes inside the building that were damaged in the collision. Officers said the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when they lost control and crashed into the multi-family home.

The Mountain View Fire Department reported that the accident caused significant structural damage. Firefighters had to use pieces of lumber to stabilize the structure and prevent it from collapsing. The city building inspector said the building was uninhabitable after the collision. Three adults and 3 children suddenly found themselves without a home.
The DUI driver was arrested at the scene and officers said it appears that no one was injured in this collision.
