Dune Buggy Crash Leaves Rob Mallory Dead In Scripps Ranch

Scripps Ranch, CA (December 1, 2023) Rob Mallory, 53, was killed in a collision between two dune buggies on Thanksgiving Day in Scripps Ranch, according to authorities. The tragic accident happened on a trail that the family had used many times before.

Rob Mallory was driving the dune buggy with his wife, Misty Mallory, his son, Dune Mallory and Dune’s girlfriend as passengers. Misty Mallory said the ride was a special one, as they were headed to see a desert memorial for Rob’s brother. As they headed down the trail, another dune buggy came speeding up from a side trail. Misty Mallory told police officers that the other dune buggy slammed into them, nearly head-on.

Following the collision, Misty had injuries to one of her knees, her son and his girlfriend were also injured. Rob, however, was seriously injured and unresponsive following the collision. Misty later described the accident as “absolutely violent.”

Police officers and paramedics arrived at the scene and found the injured family on the trail. An air ambulance was called to rush Rob Mallory to a hospital in Palm Springs. He was placed on life support until Monday, November 27th, when he was given the honor walk, according to authorities.

Even though the Mallory’s are mourning the loss of their father, husband and friend, his wife Misty shared that Rob’s generosity continues as his healthy organs will be given to those in need. He will now have his own desert memorial alongside his brother’s.
