BERKELEY, CA (May 26, 2022) – Jimmy Jimenez, 21, who hit and injured a CHP officer on Tuesday morning has been arrested for suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run according to the California Highway Patrol.
The report from KRON 4 says:
CHP reports that as one officer walked around the left side of the disabled vehicle a Dodge Ram driving in the right lane sideswiped the patrol vehicle and hit the officer. The officer was taken to a regional trauma center with massive injuries.
The passenger of the disabled vehicle and the other officer were uninjured.
The driver of the Dodge Ram fled the scene, but was quickly found on the eastbound I-80 near Pinole Valley Road, where officers found Jimenez asleep at the wheel of the car.
Jimenez was then booked into Santa Rita Jail on counts of felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
