Desert Hot Springs, CA (May 21, 2024) 22-year-old Twentynine Palms resident, Jonathan Tucker, was tragically killed in a two-vehicle collision on May 16th. The fatal accident occurred in Desert Hot Springs on Highway 62, not far from North Indian Canyon Drive. The two vehicles collided just before 2:30 a.m., reports indicated.
A Hyundai was heading west on State Route 62 on Thursday morning, when the driver made an unsafe left turn onto N. Indian Canyon Drive. It turned right into the path of a Dodge that was heading east on SR-62. The two vehicles collided and the impact sent the Dodge careening into a street pole near the intersection’s center.
Officers arrived at the scene and had to close the eastbound lanes of Highway 62. Paramedics rushed to check on the occupants, ready to give medical aid to anyone in need. They found the driver of the Dodge, later identified as Jonathan Tucker, unresponsive. With heavy hearts, they were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai received only minor injuries in the collision and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The scene was investigated for two hours before tow trucks repaved the damaged vehicles. Crews cleaned up the scene and eventually, the lanes were reopened to motorists. The Indio Office of the CHP is leading this investigation. They are determined to understand exactly what caused this collision. They do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be factors in this collision.
