Winchester, CA (June 25, 2024) One woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Sunday, June 23. The collision also left a child and an adult male seriously injured.
The crash occurred two days ago at around 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of Simpson Road and California Ave. California Highway Patrol says that a 53-year-old man from Hemet was driving a Chevrolet Cruze westbound on Simpson Road. Also in the car was Kimberly Higgins of Hemet, 51, and a 13-year-old child.
Apparently, a 17-year-old driving a Jeep Wrangler did not stop or yield as he went through the intersection. This caused the Jeep to broadside the passenger side of the Chevrolet.
Shortly after the collision, Hemet Fire Department medical personnel arrived to find Higgins severely hurt. They rushed her to Inland Valley Medical Center. Tragically, she passed away from her injuries five hours later, according to CHP.
The driver of the Chevrolet as well as the child in the car also suffered major injuries. Thankfully, as of Monday, they were in the hospital in stable condition.
