Krystal Rubi Reynaga Killed In Bakersfield Crash On Kern St.

2 killed, 2-year-old boy seriously injured in Bakersfield crash.

Bakersfield, CA (November 8, 2024) A tragic accident occurred in Bakersfield on the morning of October 12th, 2024. The collision claimed the life of 26-year-old Wasco resident, Krystal Rubi Reynaga. The at fault driver, Javier Banderas Hernandez, 29, was also killed in the collision. A 2-year-old boy inside one of the vehicle sustained serious injuries in the accident, officers reported. It happened on Kern Street around 5:40 a.m, at the intersection of Niles Street.

As Reynaga entered the intersection of Kern Street and Niles Street on October 13th, another vehicle ran the stop sign and entered the intersection at the same time. The two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection, officers reported. The driver of the vehicle that ran the stop sign, 29-year-old Javier Banderas Hernandez, was thrown from his vehicle and killed in the collision, according to police reports.

Officers arrived at the scene and found that 26-year-old Reynaga had also been thrown from her vehicle. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene by officials. A 2-year-old boy was found inside one ot the vehicles with serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment. Officers reported that the child was not in a car seat and wasn’t even wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

Police officers are working to determine what exactly happened at that Bakersfield intersection. Tow trucks were called to remove both vehicles, which were badly damaged. It took crews a while to remove the glass and debris from the intersection, according to reports.
