Leila Strawder, 21, Killed in DUI in San Bernardino

2 injured in 4-vehicle crash with fire truck in Santa Monica.

San Bernardino, CA (June 18, 2024) An extremely sad accident took place last week when Leila Strawder was a passenger in her friend’s car. Her friend, Shaylee Williams, was under the influence as she drove them home from some sort of event in San Bernardino.

Reports say that Williams lost control of her vehicle somewhere near the 210 Freeway. Witnesses tried to help, including Sheriff Chad Bianco of Riverside County. Sheriff Bianco performed CPR while emergency medical services were dispatched. Leila had been ejected from the vehicle. Investigators said that she was stuck underneath debris–likely the car itself.

Paramedics took Leila to the hospital, but tragically, she passed away. She was only 21 years old. Her mother, Lisa, is heartbroken, telling news outlets, “My daughter was perfection. Everything she did was perfect. I feel dead inside. I feel empty inside. It’s just a lot of stuff that could have been prevented and shouldn’t have happened, and it cost my daughter’s life for it.”

Authorities have arrested Shaylee Williams. She has been charged with DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
