A multi-vehicle crash on Highway 198 in Kings County on Sunday, August 6, left one woman, 82 year-old Maria Aguerralde, dead and two other people with severe injuries. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m.
During the accident 65 year-old, Mariano Najar Martinez was driving west on Highway 198 in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. He collided with Maria who was driving east in a 1998 Chevrolet S-10.

Maria Aguerralde sustained severe injuries in the collision and was later pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Julia Mendoza, was also injured in the crash taken to the hospital for treatment.
Investigators suspect that the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was intoxicated at the time of the accident. The incident remains under investigation.
