Riverside, CA (October 26, 2024) Several vehicles collided on the Riverside (91) Freeway early this morning, claiming at least one person’s life. The tragic accident occurred at approximately 3:38 p.m. near McKinley Street.
Many would consider it the middle of the night, as vehicles traveled along the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway. Around 3:38 in the morning, a white Lexus, a white Toyota Camry, a black Honda Accord, and a black semi-truck hauling a trailer all collided. The collision sent a large amount of debris littering the roadway and the damaged vehicles came to a stop, blocking all lanes of the westbound freeway.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and found the freeway blocked by the four damaged vehicles. They issued a SigAlert and closed the westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway, encouraging drivers to take an alternate route. They rushed to the vehicles to see if anyone had been injured and found one person with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, the victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. It is unknown if the victim passed away at the scene or later at a hospital.
Investigators are working to piece together what caused this fatal accident in Riverside on early Saturday morning. Tow trucks arrived to move the damaged vehicles from the roadway and it took crews hours to clean up the glass and debris that had been left behind.
