VICTORVILLE, CA (AUGUST 25, 2023): 22-year-old Omar Maya faces DUI charges for a collision that left a woman and a child critically injured in Victorville Wednesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. along Silica Drive near Seventh Avenue. 22-year-old Maya struck a silver Nissan sedan with his black Honda for unknown reasons.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene to help remove a person trapped inside the Nissan, which was occupied by two adults and two children. They then requested a Mercy Air helicopter to airlift a woman in critical condition, and subsequently requested a second airlift for a pediatric patient. The woman was transported to Arrowhead Medical Center, and the child to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Maya was uninjured and was later arrested for a DUI. He is currently held on a $250,000 bail. The other occupants of the Nissan denied medical transportation at the scene.
The condition of the injured woman and child remains unknown. Victorville Police Department continue to investigate the cause of this collision involving 22-year-old Omar Maya in Victorville.
